Landscape paintings by Edward Seago, wildlife art by David Shepherd and French impressionists Monet and Sisley inspired me to paint. I was born in Yorkshire in 1949 and followed a career in electrical engineering, before turning professional as a full time artist in 1990. A self taught artist working in oil paint, I am interested in creating landscape and marine paintings that reflect my interest in natural light and atmosphere rather than attention to fine detail, to this end I endeavor to paint outdoors throughout the year. One of my favourite subjects to paint are spritsail barges on the river Orwell. The practical difficulties of painting on location can be frustrating, but when a picture is successful, it is much more satisfying. I also paint African wildlife, lions, elephants ,with tigers being my favourite subject to paint. My favourite locations for subject matter are to be found on the Yorkshire coast at Staithes,Whitby, Robin hoods bay, Runswick bay,Scarborough,Filey, Bempton, ,and Flamborough, to Spurn point on the Humber estuary. I have exhibited in leading London galleries ,as well as in Yorkshire,Lancashire, Lincolnshire, and the Cotswolds. My online art gallery sales are becoming increasingly successful so, If you would like to ask me any questions regarding my work , please email me at (neville@nevillebarker.wanadoo.co.uk) or telephone 01924-275579 My paintings are in collections throughout the world.
